Transverse plan of a Bomanga (Brachystegia zenkeri - Cameroon).
The vessels, distributed evenly, are surrounded by a diamond-shaped sleeve of parenchyma cells.

Radial plane of a Belian (Eusyderoxylon zwageri - Borneo).
The central cells of a ray are procumbent and framed by a row of upright cells.

Tangential plane; rays of a Walnut tree (Juglans regia).
The rays are composed of 1 to 4 cells in width.
